This is the story behind the art Secret Lake. In the early 2000s my friend dragged me up this hill. By hill I mean the STEEPEST hill ever in a forest with a questionable path. This trek is the Lake Marion Track. I almost died going up there. Okay, maybe not quite that bad but there were tears. I made it though. The view was AMAZING and totally worth the stupid walk up there. Once you get up there you come out of the clearing and into a magical world. The lake is an alpine lake in a valley surrounded by mountains. The lake itself was clear and had grass growing out of it at the edges. It didn’t seem like a real place. At the time phones at only just come out but I decided to take a small video on mine just to remember the place. I found it the other day - yes it was terrible. However, I won’t be heading up that hill again any time soon!
This illustration was inspired by this place. The funny thing is though that just like the walk, this illustration was hard! In the end I pushed through though, just like I did on that walk all those years ago. I am happy with what I ended up with and it was a great learning experience.
