The outcast collection is about the journey of Moth fairy called Alec and his struggle with being different.
The story starts in Alecs homeland. For centuries the moth fairies have lived in an old forest near an old barn. The humans have no clue they are there. Their society is quite old fashioned and they are set in their ways. Alec’s family recognise Alec is different and try to encourage him to be like them instead. They mean well but don’t understand that their comments and lack of understanding are quite hurtful. Alec has become the outcast in their society. Luckily he has a pet rat to talk to and hes always there to cheer him up.
Evenutally Alec cannot take it anymore and decides to leave. His pet rat keeps him company. He heads south towards the human suburb area as he has heard that the fairies that live there are more accepting of different types of fairies.
Alec arrives and is accosted with all the colours, smells and sounds of this new place. He finds its not just the flowers that are colourful but the houses too. He arrives at a lovely little garden and mets the local flower fairies who live there. They are very welcoming and agree to take him in for a few days. The mother gets all clucky at the sight of him and embraces him in a warm hug. He suspects that he will be welcome to stay much longer if he chooses.
I really enjoyed the whole process and pushed myself to step out of my comfort zone with these paintings. They are now happily on my walls at home. I can’t wait to make more fantasy art.
