I made it through week 3 of the art start challenge 2024! The prompts each week are definitely getting harder.
My favourite one was the painting with one hue sector. This one turned out the best. Though I quite like the saturation at the focal point one too. Both ideas are something I haven’t tried before and I was surprised with the results. I think that the saturation one in particular is something that I might try again with something else.
Here were all the prompts:
1. Use only full saturation at the focal point. I choose little red riding hood for my theme as I thought the red coat would really stand out. This one really makes you plan well and as a result the values really worked.
2. Hue range - paint in one hue sector only. This one was the best. An icey world was a great choice.
3. White - choose a warm or cool light for your scene and paint a white object in it. I kept it simple and painted paper planes. To make it more interesting I experimented with putting subtle hue changes in and really liked how it turned out.
4. Louder - choose a detailed subject and paint it with as few details as possible. I choose a ladybug and I struggled a bit to keep it simple! But overall I am happy with what I ended up with.
5. More and less - paint with two colours but only a tiny bit of one of them. This one was tricky! I am not sure if I like it that much so its not included here. You can see it on my Instagram if you are curious.
6. Colour code - do a character design that fits your characters personality or mood. Since I love birds I choose to base my character on the kiwi. He finally gets to fly! This was fun to make.
